Planned Maintenance Programme
Applicable to fresh air intakes, aggressive
/ hostile / inclement conditions and coastal areas.
Suitable access to dampers, for maintenance and inspection purposes,
shall be provided by others.
The Maintenance department responsible for this programme should keep
a Log of Date and type of Maintenance carried out.
Dampers should be visually inspected
and their operation checked a minimum of once every three months.
Any dirt or foreign matter that
may affect the correct operation of the damper should be cleared, from
the blades
and blade drive area.
Damper inner casing and Blades
should be cleaned and sprayed with a light protective lubricant (such
as Rocol
Z30 *), with special
attention being given to the blade end bearings and the damper being
worked manually through its full travel to ensure free running of the
gear train.
On dampers with External Linkages
the blade linkage pivoting points shall be sprayed with
a light oil (*) to aid movement.
Dampers with concealed linkages
can be sprayed with a light oil (*) to the drive areas.
Spring Return Motorised Damper
blades can be wound and locked open for inspection purposes without
the electrical
supply by means of
a manual crank key that is supplied attached to the actuator. The damper
will revert to its initial position when unlocked and allowed to rewind.
Generally no spares are required
for the Damper head units. The actuators are maintenance free and should
be
replaced in the event
of failure.
